How can I limit shipping to specific cities on my checkout page?

I want to edit the functionality of my checkout page, such that if a customer is from a ‘city’ other then the specified, then they are not able to checkout and are rather given an error prompt of “Not delivering to this city at the moment”.

P.S: I am NOT on Shopify Plus plan.

Hi @Khan01 ,

Have you tried settings with shipping zones: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shipping/setting-up-and-managing-your-shipping/setting-up-shipping-zones

If not, you need to install app for it, refer to the following app: https://apps.shopify.com/restrict-shipping

Hope it helps!

Hi @Khan01 !

Thanks for getting in touch here!

Your question is a great one. As @LitExtension spoke about in this very thread, our shipping settings are quite flexible and can be modified to suit your needs. Within your Shopify Admin, you can set up shipping zones and rates by first selecting a country and then specifying the states/provinces you want to ship to and at what price. You can explore more about setting up your shipping by visiting some of these links below:

1. Setting up Shipping Rates

2. Understanding Shipping

3. Setting up Shipping Zones

There wouldn’t be any way natively to block a specific customer from a certain country or region. Nevertheless, there are plenty of Shipping style apps in our app store here that can help with what you need and set up more specific rules, check out some of those below:

1. Advanced Shipping Rules

  1. Better Shipping

  2. Intuitive Shipping

I hope the above has been helpful, however if anything is unclear please let me know! I’m curious to learn more about your store and what type of products or services you’re offering. Just so you know, we are not only here to help out with tricky technical questions but also to help you grow your business and provide marketing tips, so if you have any questions, just shout!

Hi @Khan01 ,

If it helped you solve your issue, please mark it as a solution. Thank you and good luck.

Hi there. I’m wondering if it’s natively possible within Shopify to limit orders/products to one city, or to have different product variants showing up for different cities (e.g. framed prints are available in one city but only unframed prints in others). My primary country is Pakistan but in settings (under shipping>manage) it doesn’t let me select cities within Pakistan and treats the entire country as one zone. If this isn’t possible, is there a way to prominently add a note or checkbox that clarifies that a particular product variant is only available in a particular city? Any guidance on how to set this up is very welcome. Thanks!

Hey @mashop .

Thanks for reaching out.

I appreciate the context that you have shared with us as that is very helpful! That is a great question. At the moment, it is not possible to limit the orders per location using the Shopify platform. However - I can certainly see how this would be beneficial for you and your business. I am going to use your post as a suggestion to our developers. We appreciate your feedback!

With that being said, I wanted to mention that it is possible to limit one product per cart. To have this feature, you will need to use a third-party application with your online store. I created a list of recommendations:

Thank you Ollie for your detailed response and for passing on the
suggestion to the developer team.

I was wondering if you could help me with one other question. I’m trying to
create a portfolio-style page on my Shopify site. I’d like a grid of images
where each image is clickable and goes to its own page. Is it possible to
create something like this natively?

This feels like it should be doable but I’ve haven’t had any success
through customize>pages>create template then adding features from the left
panel that resemble a grid that is clickable. What do you suggest?

Thanks,
Maliha

Hey @mashop .

Thanks for the quick response in this matter.

Looking into this, if you are familiar with coding or HTML - you can create a page or blog post. Once you have created the page, you can select the <> icon. I took a screenshot from my test store to show you the section I am referring to:

Alternatively, if you are interested in hiring an individual to complete this, you can reach out to a Shopify Expert.

Let me know what you think.
