How can I lower my international shipping rates on Shopify?

Hello,

I just opened my Shopify Store last month. Both my customers and I are SHOCKED by the price of shipping to some international regions. In comparing the autogenerated prices Shopify provides my international customers at check out to the app Shippo’s prices, they’re incredibly higher. This is causing me to lose customers. Does anyone know what I can do? Is there a way to have Shippo’s prices reflected at checkout?

I’ve done my research, looked into other companies who are selling similar items to me and tested their checkouts and they are ALWAYS much cheaper in shipping prices—and the prices are autogenerated as they show the carrier name next to them. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and Shopify’s customer support wasn’t helpful.

Thank you so much!

Hi @PLWAdmin ,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing difficulties with shipping prices on your Shopify store. Here are a few suggestions that may help you resolve the issue:

  1. Check your shipping settings: Make sure that your shipping settings are accurate and up-to-date. Double-check your shipping rates, shipping zones, and product weights and dimensions to ensure that your customers are being charged the correct amount for shipping.

  2. Negotiate rates with carriers: You can negotiate shipping rates directly with carriers like USPS, FedEx, and UPS. If you’re a new business, you may not have much leverage, but it’s worth a try. You can also consider using a freight forwarding company that can consolidate shipments to get better rates.

  3. Offer free shipping: If you can’t reduce your shipping costs, consider offering free shipping on orders over a certain amount. This can help to incentivize customers to buy more and offset the cost of shipping.

I hope that these suggestions are helpful to you and that you’re able to find a solution that works for your business.
