How can I manage product options instead of variants for my glasses website?

Hi all,

I have a website running that sells glasses and sunglasses. I am structuring the customizations of the product and realize that most of what i so far considered as variants would be a lot easier if considered as options. This because the amount of variants is increasing and uploading products with so many possible variants is just impossible. So i thought that having options to apply to products would be better. But i don’t know how to do it. Let me make an example:

So i have a product (glasses) which is basically naked (no lenses chosen). The product can be red, blu o black (these are variants since the product esthetically changes and ok). Now, once the user has chosen the color, he/she should select the magnification power of the lenses (which can be up to 10 different) and then chose the quality of the lense. The quality of the lense would have an impact on the price.

The thing is, power of the lenses and lenses quality would be common (transversal) to many products (not sunglasses), so instead of uploading a product with these variants, i’d rather like to upload the product with only color variants, and then choose which options i want to display on the product page. Is something like that possible?

The result would be something like that:

Product A has Option 1 + Options 2 available

Product B has Option 3 available

Product C has Option 2 available

Thanks!

Max

Hi @Smoox ,

It’s been a while since you raised your topic, and I assume you may have already found a solution for your issue. However, I still want to suggest a useful solution that you and other members can consider if you encounter a similar issue in the future.

To show different options for different products, you can utilize the Easify Product Options app. With this app, you can create different option sets and assign them to specific product groups :hugs: .

Let’s say you have 3 custom options: Option 1 - Color (Red, Blue, Black), Option 2 - Lens Power (with 10 options), and Option 3 - Lens Quality (with additional prices).

Here’s a quick demonstration of how you can set them up using the app:

1. Create the 1st option set for Product A (including Option 1 + 2):

  • Add a new option set

  • Add an option to choose Color - using the Image Swatches (or Color Swatches) option type:

  • Add an option to choose Lens Power - using the Option Group And Dropdown option types:

  • After creating your option set, assign it to Product A

2. Similarly, you can create the 2nd option set for Product B (including Option 3):

  • Add a new option set
  • Add an option to choose Lens Quality - using the Dropdown option type
  • After creating your option set, assign it to Product B

3. Finally, you need to create the 3rd option sets for Product C (including Option 2):

  • Add a new option set
  • Add an option to choose Lens Power - using the Option Group And Dropdown option types
  • After creating your option set, assign it to Product C
