Hello,
I’m looking into potentially migrating an existing website I manage to a different platform such as Shopify. The current site is on an old version of nopCommerce with 34k mostly digital download products. It sells Stripe subscriptions to these digital downloads where customers are capped for the number of downloads per month. It seems that the Shopify API supports most if not all of the functionality but I have some specific questions about migration. Hopefully you can point me in the right direction…
- The product catalog is made up of 34k digital products aren’t available for direct sale, instead they belong to a subscription product, so can digital products be downloadable without direct purchase as part of a given collection? Note: The product catalog does contain 50 physical and more traditional digital products, but given the small number these can be re-created manually.
- Can these products have a download cap which resets each month?
- The digital products can have up to 7 different file formats. This is currently accomplished parent-child grouped product configuration so that all formats are available on the screen at once with download links. Can this be accomplished with Shopify collections? Would there need to be thousands of collections created to support the 34k individual products? Or is there a more efficient config option to use instead?
- Can an active subscriber’s existing Stripe subscription be imported in and linked to one of the new subscription products?
- Currently, we use Swiftype for customized search functionality using meta tags associated with each product. How much control does a store owner have over search functionality?
- How much control is there over styling a given theme?
- Any additional storage fees for 500GB worth of digital files?
Thank you,
