I’m using a paid theme (Retina) in my store. Since the Dawn has come out I’m considering to change my store’s theme to Dawn and I’m trying some designs on it. But the section variety is limited on both themes. Can I copy and use a theme’s section on another theme, like Debut’s “image with text overlay” or “slideshow” at Dawn? I’ve copied and pasted the slider.liquid from debut to dawn, and added the css but it’s not working well, the text shown under the slider etc.
And are there any section libraries on internet that I can use to have section variety at my themes?
Shopify functions differently to, say, WordPress which is an open-source platform.
So the theme sections on Shopify free themes cannot be transferred from one theme to another, as the combination of various sections and features are part of the base-level template that distinguishes one theme from another. Likewise, there is no external or internal library that will allow you to seamlessly swap and change sections in your free theme.
However, if you consult the theme documentation you can pick the theme that is the most feature-rich and then build upon it! Is there any particular element of Retina that you want to replicate in the Dawn theme (or vice versa)?
We do have a directory of Shopify Experts who can make custom changes to your store on a contracted basis. They may be able to develop a customization for your theme that isn’t a default or may have access to an already existing integration that I’m unaware of.
All Expert contracts, requirements, and prices are agreed upon before any work commences, so you can always check in with a few different Experts to ensure you’re getting what you want for a competitive price.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
