Hi, I sell fabric and our fabrics come in collections. I don’t currently use variants to show each of the fabrics in a collection because the SEO is better if the products are stand alone. However, this is not good for the customer because they have to come out of one product and go in to another. I have seen websites where collections are shown in one listing and it is clear that the SEO for each is separate even though it shows up in one listing. I’m not even sure if I am getting across what I mean, but does anyone have an idea how this can be done?
I think your perceptions about stand alone being better for SEO when it comes to variants are quite outdated to be honest.
When it comes to web design and development, doing what is best for the customer should always trump what you think you know about SEO.
My advice would be to seriously consider doing it as variants - if as you say - they are variants. If done correctly, I would be willing to say you will receive a greater increase in SERPs

_ First I want to talk about your fear about SEO, let go of that meaning, you can add more products without worrying too much.
_ What all store owners aim for is customer experience and convenience during your stay. Do you want customers to buy more products or just want customers to buy 1 product and then leave?
Now start taking action.
