How can I preserve my website content before closing down?

I am shortly closing down and would like to be able to keep a record of the contents, blog, descriptions etc of my website. Is it possible to back everything up somehow, move it somewhere else? I don’t want to have to just lose everything.

Thanks.

Hey, @Clodbuster !

Ash here from the Shopify team. Thank you for reaching out with your question!

I appreciate that you need to do what’s best for you and your business, and sometimes that means closing down shop for the time being. With that said, if there are any roadblocks you’re experiencing that are driving this decision, I’m happy to help out any way I can.

If closing the store is definitely the direction you’re heading at this time, I agree that losing all your data would not be ideal. When a Shopify account is closed, we guarantee to keep all of the information on file for 30 days. This is incase the user decides to re-activate their account. After the 30 days have passed, all data on the account is subject to removal. To save your data for longer than 30 days after the account is cancelled, you’ll need to export it and keep it saved externally from Shopify. Our Help Center has a section which covers the creation of backups and the duplication of data. Anything that you’re unable to export directly, such as page content, can be saved in an offline document using a program like Pages or Word. Furthermore, some things like orders and financial data can be exported, but not imported into a new store in the future. Our Help Center covers these areas in more detail.

After reviewing the documents linked above, let me know if you still need assistance getting any data saved from your account. Also, please don’t hesitate to let me know if there’s any specific reasons or issues causing you to close your shop.

Thank you, I’ll look into that.

I’m getting to that time of my life unfortunately. It is difficult to sell as it relies on me exclusively and the only offer I’ve had was derogatory I’d rather just fold up. Don’t need the pennies offered.
