I’m wanting to prevent my shipping rates being cumulative. I have a flat rate in my furniture paint store www.fullersflips.com of $13.50 but for really small items such as my furniture handles, I have them on a seperate rate of $8.50. When a customer adds paint and handles to a cart it comes to $22 - it should be $13.50.
Is there are a way to ensure that if people only want to purchase handles they pay the lower fee, and that the flat rate is applied when it’s added to a cart with other items?
Currently, there is no way to disable combined rates natively if you have multiple shipping profiles, or have multiple locations within profiles.
Ultimately this feature is in place to ensure merchants don’t end up overpaying for shipping when customers order products from multiple profiles or locations, but I can appreciate how this may not be desired for all.
Currently, the only available workaround would be to use an application to set up more specific shipping rules by applying an advanced shipping rule for the product “furniture handles”.
You can try the following apps, with similar features about advanced shipping, and product-specific shipping rules.

You can use the Multiple-carrier shipping label app if all your products were in a single profile. When there is a single profile, you can adjust the rules to skip the small product from shipping.
