How can I prevent cumulative shipping rates in my furniture paint store?

Hi there!

I’m wanting to prevent my shipping rates being cumulative. I have a flat rate in my furniture paint store www.fullersflips.com of $13.50 but for really small items such as my furniture handles, I have them on a seperate rate of $8.50. When a customer adds paint and handles to a cart it comes to $22 - it should be $13.50.

Is there are a way to ensure that if people only want to purchase handles they pay the lower fee, and that the flat rate is applied when it’s added to a cart with other items?

Thank you!

Hi @FullersFlips

Hope you’re having a great day!

Think about trying Advanced Shipping Rules (From $9/month. 7-day free trial). With this Shopify app, you could

  • Hide, Show, and Adjust rates using many variables and conditions.
  • Set unique rates for different groups of products
  • etc

Or try Shipping Rates by Parcelify ($14.99/month. 14-day free trial). With this Shopify app, you could charge exactly what you want for shipping:

  • Hide and show rates based on the min/max order price and weight, or whether the order contains certain products.
  • Flat rate shipping: If a certain product or combination of products is in the order, the entire order ships for a flat rate.
  • etc

If you have any further questions, please do reach out either here on the forum, or via private message/email.

Hi,

Currently, there is no way to disable combined rates natively if you have multiple shipping profiles, or have multiple locations within profiles.

Ultimately this feature is in place to ensure merchants don’t end up overpaying for shipping when customers order products from multiple profiles or locations, but I can appreciate how this may not be desired for all.

Currently, the only available workaround would be to use an application to set up more specific shipping rules by applying an advanced shipping rule for the product “furniture handles”.

You can try the following apps, with similar features about advanced shipping, and product-specific shipping rules.

  • Better Shipping
  • Advanced Shipping Rules
  • Parcelify - Shipping

You can use the Multiple-carrier shipping label app if all your products were in a single profile. When there is a single profile, you can adjust the rules to skip the small product from shipping.

Hope this information will help you.
