Hello, since I am selling my arts on prints I want to secure my drawing so I got the app called vitals which is allowing me to disable the right click on the page which is good ( currently I have uninstalled it but I will again install it ) but the app does not provide disabling screenshots, so how can I make that the customers will not be able to take screenshots on mobile. My website is www.missartz.com
Hi @MissArtzz
Screenshots are not controlled by the web browser, they are controlled by software running on the user’s PC and so I guess it cannot be disabled on your site.
but I have seen some websites do not allow, some apps as well
I found this https://www.tutorialspoint.com/is-it-possible-to-prevent-the-users-from-taking-screenshot-of-webpage#:~:text=Example,able%20to%20print%20the%20screen. Do you have any idea?
-
Windows PC:
- Press Win+R to open the Run dialog, type “gpedit.msc,” and press Enter.
- Navigate to “User Configuration” > “Administrative Templates” > “System.”
- Look for “Prevent access to registry editing tools” and double-click it.
- Select “Enabled” and click “Apply” to disable registry editing, which indirectly affects screenshots taken with the PrtScn key.
-
macOS:
- On macOS, disabling screenshots entirely might not be a built-in feature. However, you can use third-party applications or parental control settings to restrict access to screenshot functionality.
- Android:- Disabling screenshots on Android may require third-party apps or device-specific configurations. You can search for apps on the Google Play Store that offer this functionality or check your device’s settings for screenshot-related options.
-
iOS (iPhone/iPad):
- On iOS, disabling screenshots is not natively supported. Apple does not provide a built-in option to disable screenshots.
Please keep in mind that disabling screenshots can be a complex process, and it’s not always recommended unless you have a specific need for it (e.g., for parental control or sensitive information protection). Also, third-party apps that claim to disable screenshots might not always be reliable or secure.
If you need help with a specific device or operating system, please let me know, and I’ll try to provide more specific instructions.
Disabling the right-click is one thing but unfortunately there are so many others ways to capture an image of a screen including the PrtSc button and apps like PicPick which allow screen capture or doing screen capture on mobile using the keys.
Some people resort to watermarking the images, but that may inhibit the viewer from seeing the overall beauty of the piece. But it can be used as a last resort.

Like the other posts have said - its very difficult to control whether or not users can take a screen shot because those settings are generally set on the users system vs in the browser.
But lots of digital artists have the same issue you’re describing. Generally the best ways to prevent theft in these situations is to:
-
Use a watermark or logo on your images
-
Post only lower resolution versions of the images on the site
