I have recently had an increase in chargebacks, all on fulfilled and delivered orders. We have submitted all the evidence to prove orders have been fulfilled and delivered. I know for sure 1 of them is a fraudulent customer trying to get a free order, and have a feeling the others maybe too. Shopify hadn’t flagged these orders as potentially fraudulent, is there another layer of protection I can add as our small business can not survive this amount of fraudulent chargebacks
Hi @Tratlanchik
Sorry to hear about the unfortunate chargeback case. Detecting fraudulent orders can be quite difficult for merchants who have no experience with this and as you mentioned, the default Shopify risk analysis aren’t perfect.
First, there are several fraud apps available on the app store including ours ranging from different needs and pricing options. In order to see what kind of fraud apps best fit your needs, two questions I recommend you try to answer.
-
What’s your chargeback rate for the last 90 days? Is it >1% or <1%?
-
What kind of fraud prevention system are you looking for? Are you looking for chargeback insurance? Do you need a way to verify customers? Your budget? Automations? etc…
Once you figure this out, it will make it easier to recommend a fraud protection layer.
