Greetings - is there any way to establish the method of shipping for the items in my storefront, without going into settings? I know how to do that but it is very cumbersome - I use 3 methods, the usual USPS/UPS/FedEx, other products I ship Free and a few I need to ship by freight. Is there any way to select this when I create or edit a product?

I can completely understand how this process may be cumbersome to set up, but would require shipping to be completed under Settings > Shipping & Delivery within the admin. Due to this, I recommend checking out our Setting Up and Managing Your Shipping and Delivery documentation for detailed steps on how to successfully set this up. It outlines step-by-step instructions on everything that needs to be completed, such as shipping profiles, zones, and rates to ensure shipping is available to customers. We also have a great Shipping Set Up Video that touches on these steps, making set up as simple as possible!
Alternatively, you can also look to the Shopify App Store for an available shipping app that will allow set up to be completed and managed there. For ease, I’ve gone ahead and recommended a few you can look into:

Along with the apps suggested by @Blair , I will add the PH MultiCarrier Shipping Label. The app allows you to set up multiple shipping options based on your product categories. For your business scenario, you can add these 3 shipping rules within the app:
Product category 1: USPS/UPS/FedEx services
Product category 2: Free shipping
Product category 3: Freight shipping services
