How can I stop product images from opening in new tabs?

Hello there,

For some time now I have been trying to find a solution to product images opening in a new tab in my shopify store.

Can someone please take a look and provide me with possible solution?

I was searching for some solutions and most of them say that I need to go to product-template.liquid but I have no such file.

Upon navigating to your storefront and clicking on your products, I was able to replicate the variant images opening up in a new tab. Has the issue of images opening up in new tabs just recently occurred or was it always behaving this way?

I’d like to gather a bit more context and offer troubleshooting methods to better understand the issue. Could you advise on the following:

  • What theme are you using?
  • Have you tried downloading a fresh Shopify theme, navigating to your store and clicking into your products to replicate the error?
  • Have you recently installed any new apps?
  • Has your theme code recently been edited?
  • Could you try rolling back your theme code to an older version of your theme to see if the issue still persists at an older datestamp?
