How can I use wildcard symbols to search for product titles?

Hello,

When searching for stock in Products we need the feature to be able to search for a rug product by our size description (searching by the Product Title)

e.g. “Loomlori-3x2”

Where the asterisk would be wildcards.

It should show up results such as:

“Loomlori-332x220”

“Loomlori-302x210”

“Loomlori-315x224”

etc.

However, this is not working with * nor does ? work. I would assume there is no such provision within Shopify for searching however I found this on Google: https://community.shopify.com/c/Shopify-Discussion/Product-Search-With-Leading-Wildcard/td-p/139381
Which says in part “Hello I have figured out how to get Shopify to search for a partial match by appending the wildcard character to the input field…” However I cannot open that discussion to read the solution, seems like it was removed.

Could anyone please assist with this issue?

I’ve been searching for a solution for this as well, I can’t get any search within shopify - products, orders, customers - to accept * or ? as a wildcard.

If you use the advanced search and filter app https://apps.shopify.com/ultimate-search-and-filter-1, you can remove * character from the token delimiter list so the engine can index * character for you.
