How could i rank my product page better?

Topic summary

A user seeks to rank their product page (currently on page 3) directly below their homepage (ranked #1) to display review stars in search results, believing this will increase click-through rates.

Key Challenge:

  • Homepage and product page appear to target the same keyword, creating internal competition.

Suggested Approach:

  • Consider “deoptimizing” the homepage by removing the target keyword to allow the product page to rank instead.
  • However, this strategy depends heavily on the specific search query.

Important Caveat:

  • If the query is a brand name search, the homepage will almost always dominate rankings, making it unlikely a product page will appear alongside it for brand terms.

Currently have a great ranking for my home page, however I’d like to rank my product page as well as it includes the review stars. I feel when people see that they have more potential to click.

If my home page is ranked at a good spot, number 1 in google page. How can I get my product page, ranked at page 3 or later, to be underneath the home page ranking?

This really all depends on the query. If your homepage is targeting the same keyword as your product page, then you’d need to “deoptimize” your homepage by removing whatever the keyword is from the page in hopes that your product page may rank instead.

But if you’re just talking about your brand name, then it’s unlikely a product page will rank. Your homepage will almost always rank for brand terms.
