How do I add a GTIN or MPN for dropshipping on Google?

Hi there - I am interested in selling on Google. While it looks like all of my products have been approved, the majority of them are tagged with the comment “you need to add a gtin or mpn”. As I am dropshipping, I don’t have these numbers and thought that they would have synced over if they were attached to the product. What needs to be done to correct this? Hope I don’t need to track down hundreds of numbers.

Thanks,

Lisa

I would like to give you some suggestions regarding your question here.

Google Merchant Center product feed expects for each product the appropriate unique product identifier values like GTIN, MPN, Brand.

A GTIN uniquely identifies your product. This specific number helps us make your ad or unpaid listing richer and easier for your customers to find.

If you don’t have the identifier values, then you have to use the identifier exists [identifier_exists] attribute to indicate that the unique product identifiers (UPIs) are not available for your product.

identifier_exists is an attribute that tells Google that this product is missing identifiers, and this will prevent these products from being disapproved.

If these identifiers are not available, you have to set identifier_exists=No, otherwise set to Yes.

You will get more organic sales when your products are found on free sales channels like Google Search and you will start getting order conversions for virtually zero cost. flareAI does stuff for you saving you time & expense. flareAI works every day for you, tapping into Google Search and 20+ of world’s best & biggest free sales channels.

  1. If a manufacturer has assigned a barcode then you are required to add this info in the GTIN field. Alongside the brand value with identifier exists to yes.

  2. If the manufacturer has not assigned a barcode, then remove the values brand, mpn and gtin and set identifier exists to no.

If you have submitted the correct information as per the above, you may need to use feed rules to correctly clear certain fields. Here is a guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyvilyMb2Bo

Hi @bluefogpantry ,

Apologies for the late reply to your question after the festive season!

As others have correctly noted here, you need to provide Google with a GTIN or MPN. If you are dropshipping, it’s quite possible that the dropshipping app you are using does not automatically include the GTINs or MPNs for the products, and that you will need to request them directly from the supplier to include in your Google Channel.

Once you’ve obtained the codes, you can quickly include them in all your products using the bulk editor. This should then automatically update in Google Channel.

Meanwhile, what is it that you’re selling and how did the festive period run for your business? Are you happy with the way sales are going?

There is something bad with google channel app from shopify and google. Data is not correctly syncing, we still have errors about GTIN in google merchant. We have all products with GTINs, but Google Merchant Center is saying NOT!!!

Also problems with gender, age, … fields.

Shopify experts? Please help us, now GOOGLE SALES CHANNEL is totally useless, data is not synced, or even worse! bad synced!!!

What you are experiencing is not just an issue with you, but experienced by many. My recommendation if you want something that is more resilient is to use: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds

Sorry, Google Sales Channel is something that Shopify includes in their ads, publicity, documentation… we dont want to pay more, we need shopify to solve this big problem.

I understand, then your only option is to contact Shopify support and ask them for support on your issues.

I deal with these issues all the time, and i have long stopped using the free app. All the clients I work for need performance, which can be given by using tools that work.
