You can create a similar review section by adding a Testimonials or Custom Liquid/HTML section in your Shopify theme, or use a review app like Loox, Stamped.io, or Yotpo to display photos, ratings, and text in a carousel or grid layout.

Yes, it’s the best option if you can pay them monthly. However, if you only need one widget, it’s better to build it custom rather than install a full app (which affects store speed) and pay monthly. As a developer and CRO expert, I suggest choosing the custom approach. It’s better for store speed, which improves user experience—and ultimately, conversions.
I always prefer the method that’s best for conversions, as that’s our ultimate goal.
