How do I limit product stock availability based on date?

Hello,

Background:

I build this shop for a hand-made bread shop that only produces bread twice a week, they need to be able to limit the maximum amount of purchases ordered for a particular date.

Basically, customers order from the website and pick-up from the store, no shipping. Customers need to be able to choose a date, and if a particular date is *full, (*i.e more than X amount of orders have been made for this date) then it’s disabled.

That also begs to the question: how to add this functionality of choosing dates for an order? at checkout perhaps? hmm… ideas?

You’re going to need an app for that (unless you want to roll your own, which would be quite complicated). Looks like this one has the functionality you need https://apps.shopify.com/click-and-collect

We have quite a few bakeries using our App for that: https://apps.shopify.com/bookthatapp

There are some instruction for setting it up here: https://support.zetya.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000081795-Date-Picker-on-Cart-Page-Managing-Delivery-Slots

Or feel free to shoot us a message via support @ zetya.com and we’ll be happy to help.

HTH, Gavin.

Hello @Rispov ,

Our Order Delivery Date app (with 14 days FREE trial) is the best fit for your store’s needs. It will help you to

  1. add delivery date calendar and time picker
  2. limit your orders
  3. enable store pick or local delivery
  4. disable the Shipping option

There are many more features I want you to explore in our app. Also, you can get expert support in the app set-up or configuration without any cost.

After checking some options, I must say I tend towards setting up Zapiet’s Store Pickup + Delivery app.

A major downside is obviously its 29$/m cost.

I’m just simply not experienced with Shopify’s platform and APIs to code this up myself, I also prefer using existing solutions as opposed to hosting private apps and tying myself to the client further, and requiring future maintenance ugh.

Besides, I haven’t stumbled upon profound Shopify developer’s examples/walkthroughs, etc that go into building apps that do complex operations/manipulations/etc.

Hi Rispov,

It is unfortunate that setting up something like this yourself isn’t easier. Your requirement around limiting orders makes this more challenging to do yourself, as you would need to interact with the API, to do these checks and it can get hard to manage and maintain.

If you’re after a cheaper date picker alternative, you could consider Bloom, as it offers the functionality you’re after with limiting orders, plus a lot more.

There’s a 14-day free trial too, so you could test it out and see how it works for you.

Best of luck with your store, and let me know if you had any questions!

Hi there

We have a lot of bakeries that we help.

We can provide pickup limits but only on Advanced & above plans. The date is chosen in the cart but only the dates with slots available will appear .
