How do I pay for dropshipping orders on my new store?

Hi. I just started dropshiping, and after I created the store and everything, I went to buy the products, so I can make my own content and to use them myself. And because I am new to this, I bought the items directly from my store, so I’ll recieve my first order and to see how it all works after I actually get my first order. I connected my acc to sup dropshiping. And now, after I placed the order, the money went directly to my stripe acc. And I cannot pay, or transfer the money to sup dropshiping, to pay for the order and ship the items for myself. I of course locked the store for the time being. I am completely lost, of how to move forward

Hey there, @Bojevnim . Thanks for taking the time to come to the Shopify Community with your dropshipping situation here. I hope you’re doing well!

I’m jumping in here to see if I can help clarify a few things for you. Just to set some expectations, all dropshipping services are third parties, so there may be some questions or settings that are outside of Shopify’s scope of support. It’s always worthwhile to also reach out to the Support Team of the dropshipping service you use for support and information when facing issues.

Based on what you’ve described here, it sounds like your issue is that you’re unable to take funds from placed orders and immediately use them to pay for the products and shipping related to that order.

This is actually a very common thing in dropshipping - most dropshipping services cannot integrate directly with your payment processor, so you need to have another method of payment on file for your dropshipping service account to pay for products and shipping. A few days after the order is placed, the funds will likely become available to you, and then you can use those funds to pay for future orders and shipments. This, of course, depends on your payment processor. You mentioned that you’re using Stripe, so we can’t comment on when they will release those funds to you.

So ultimately - what you’re experiencing is normal. You’re expected to have another payment method available for the dropshipping service to use to charge you whenever they are supplying and shipping product. When folks are just starting out, many are using some of their own money to pay for the first few orders until they’ve made enough profit to use funds generated by the business to pay any future orders that are placed.
