I have a customer who bought something in person last week without adding their name to the system and they wanted to return/exchange the item (and I don’t have paper receipts). I have over 100 orders since then and would like to just process a simple return. Anyone have a resolution?
If you can find the original order, you can add the customer’s name through the POS.
You can search orders by item; that should make it easier to find the order.
Otherwise, just add the item back to inventory and give them cash back or issue them a gift card.
We, too have this issue. A huge and ongoing problem. Why can’t we just have the option to return the items?
But what if they want it refunded back to their credit card? And how do I account for the cash in the register being handed out? Is there a receipt proving I gave cash back?
If you’re concerned with those issues, you will need to find the original order.
Until Shopify offers it as a native feature, we built an app to fill this gap. It’s basic but hopefully it is helpful! https://apps.shopify.com/return-without-receipt
$39 a month? This should be a free option for all Shopify POS customers.
I don’t disagree! However I don’t work for Shopify. We have already asked Shopify team to add this as native functionality; it’s much better for our merchants (we work with a lot of large merchants and it’s better for them and for everyone not to need a third party app like ours). However we wanted to provide a solution in the short term for other merchants who need a solution until the feature is available natively.
