How do i set the inventory for an individual variant

I have a swimwear brand which customers can pick different sizes for their bikini top and bottoms, for instance (XS and M bottoms) to complete the set. I have moved over from Wix as the inventory system for tracking variants was awful and so confusing. Is there a way for me to track how much i have in each size per variant without it all being blended together.

For instance, am I able to track how many XS tops and XS bottoms I have separately so I am able to monitor what sizes are available.

We recently released an app that solves this problem: Fusion Inventory

You can create raw materials in the app for each top and bottom that you have. You then create a bill of materials for each product variant. The bill of materials defines which raw materials are used to make the product variant and how many of each.

After you complete setup and enable inventory sync, the app will take care of keeping the inventory of different variants in sync with the tops and bottoms used to make them.

The Easify Product Options app can help you solve your problem. Here’s how you can set it up to meet your needs :blush: :

  1. Start by creating the Swimwear Set product without adding any options for the Top & Bottom.

  2. Set up separate products for the Top and Bottom, each with size options and specific quantities for each size. If you don’t sell these items individually, you can hide these products from the storefront and keep them available only in Shopify admin for inventory tracking. If you do sell these items both in sets and individually, let me know, and I can guide you through the additional settings needed.

  3. Install the app and create a new option set. Add options for Top Size and Bottom Size, and make sure to link each option value to the corresponding Top & Bottom size variants you created earlier.

  4. Finally, add the custom options to your Swimwear Set product.

This setup allows customers to choose sizes for the Top & Bottom in the set, while you can manage inventory for each item separately.
