How do you track inventory for loose products with varying weights?

Hello,

just wondering whether anyone has had the pleasure of working with loose products (herbs, spices, rice etc etc) and tracking inventory? For example IF a physical bulk stock product is 25kg (25,000g units) and I want to predefine weight variants of 10gm, 25gm & 50gm, I want the stock to update with either minus 10, 25 or 50 units. Currently each of the weights would be worth 1 stock unit, if that makes sense? so if someone bought a pre-defined x2 10gm it would subtract x2 units rather than x20 units form the stock. I’m head scratching to try and work out a better way than selling in single grams as generally people don’t know what a gram looks like and a gram of a spice is different in volume to a gram of pasta.

Any one have experience of this or any thoughts?

Nope! There is an app called ‘Weyify’ which is quite good if you’re managing your stock through Shopify. We have a different system in store so this doesn’t work for us.
