How effective is the Booster theme and how do I link my domain to it?

Hello,

I am so new to this and so confused, I bought my domain on domain.com and I bought booster theme for lot of money but I am so unhappy with it and really considering to request full money refund. Is that booster theme really good? all their videos are outdated, very hard to follow instructions, very disappointing… so my questions are:

1, is booster really that good?? I pad 350 dolars and so far it is horrible, even the customer service communication…they take for sure 24 hours to reply on stupid things and I did not find any forums or anything to help or discuss..if they are selling so much as claim and how many users they have why they dont employ more people to handle this…
2, I bought domain on domain. com how can add this domain to my shopify platform? when I open the template theme the url is xxxx.mashopify.com

Sorry if I m stupid, surely I am in this
I am so desperate  can someone help?

thanks

Martina

Hi and welcome!

Sorry to hear you’re having a bad time with this theme and the developer, I haven’t heard of or used that theme but I’ll be happy to help!

In regards to your domain, you can assign the domain you bought by going into settings → and connecting or transferring your domain, the xxx.myshopify.com URL then becomes the URL you use to access the admin panel :slightly_smiling_face:

Please let me know why you are unhappy with this theme and the changes you would like and I can take a look and see if something I can do, or if another member of the forum can look into :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi, @martini .

Thanks for posting to the forums, I hope your day is going well!

That is an extremely frustrating situation to find yourself in. Unfortunately, a theme being considered “good” is extremely subjective to the user. While some might find Booster good, others might not. This is why Shopify offers unlimited trials on all paid themes. This way, you can build the theme out and decide if its right for you without committing to a purchase.

When it comes to refunds, as you have technically purchased a digital license that is difficult to revoke, it is generally not accepted. That being said, I encourage you to request a refund from the theme developers directly. They might be able to offer a solution.

Additionally, if you are ever having any trouble with your theme, please reach out to our live advisors. While we aren’t experts on third party themes, we are generally quite skilled with maneuvering the theme editor’s settings. We are always happy to walk you through the theme to achieve what you’re looking for!

When it comes to your domain, once you connect your domain to Shopify you will need to then set it as the primary domain. That being said, your store will still populate under the .myshopify.com as well, and your admin will also display under the .myshopify.com URL.

To connect your domain to your Shopify store, you will first need a bit of information:

  1. your login information for your third-party domain provider account
  2. Domain.com’s provider requirements
  3. the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65
  4. the www CNAME record shops.myshopify.com

When you are ready to connect your domain, login to Domain.com and complete the following steps:

  1. Find the DNS settings or domain management area.
  2. Change the following records:
    • Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
    • If necessary, change the Host name to the @ symbol.
    • Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
    • Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.

Once the above steps are complete you are ready to attach the domain to your Shopify Admin.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.
  2. Click Connect existing domain.
  3. Enter your domain, such as mydomain.com, and then click Next.
  4. To confirm that your domain is connected to your Shopify store, click Verify connection.

Thats it! As it sounds like you are new to Shopify, I would also suggest using our Launch Checklist to make sure you have completed all the necessary steps before you launch to the public. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know!

Thank you very much, I might be in touch shortly, I also work as a cruise director so I am always on the way, but now season is nearly over and I will finally have time to dedicate to this.

You are amazing, thank you very much, this is very helpful, I can try but most likely I will not manage and will reach out for more advices or most likely hiring you to do it? :slightly_smiling_face: I will go trough the check list you posted, I clearly need to learn more. I work as a cruise director so travel all the time, but now my season is ending so hopefully will have a few months to dedicate to build my shops.

Dear @Skye_1 I am having problem with this  It says everywhere I should delete all other A records but I have so many others there, I have A record with name mx 2x, I have A record with name ftp, imap, smtp, mail, webmail, email … am I supposed to delete those and keep only one A record with name @ which points to shopify IP address?

Also, I am confused about the CNAME..It obviously did not work whatever I did, my site heritageprints.eu is OK but when I type www version it says forbiden access..I did not do anything on CNAME becouse I have there already some CNAME called: _acme-challenge and in content it has some weird long website made up of my website heritageprints.eu and when I click on it, it cant be found..

I feel so desperate and stupid, can you please help me?

Thank you very much Martina

Hi, @martini

As much as I would love to be able to tell you for sure what to delete and what not to, I don’t feel confident doing that without looking at the domain itself.

Instead, I recommend reaching out to our live support team who can do extensive troubleshooting to ensure that the domain is connected correctly, without risking your current settings.

Please visit our Help Center and log in to your account to create a support request through live chat, or callback. Once you have logged in to your account, type your request in ‘Ask about a topic’, scroll down to ‘Get Support’, and then click ‘Continue.’
