This seems like an incredibly basic ask. Display different lifestyle images, according to which variant the user selects (and is viewing.) Quick Google shows that Shopify store-owners have been asking for this for 5+ years. Is this a feature that will ever roll out?
I see tutorials on Youtube but do not want to mess with the code, and I tried a couple apps and was not happy with the results.
Hi @Jennifer_Chua that is a feature mostly in the product pages not all themes but some of them have it. I am not sure but it is yet to roll out majorly as I see store owners like you face this here and there.
Just FYI, I was able to implement something like this with code and not use any app or something.
Hi @Jennifer_Chua Multiple variant images is currently not a native behavior and I’ve seen no indications shopify is gonna work on it any time soon.
Some themes developers choose to put in their theme often as some sort of convention often using tags, or image alt text etc
seems like an incredibly basic ask.
A cliché of new merchants.
There’s 7 billion people on the planet and a ~million of them are merchants on shopify.
And every single one has some sort of “basic” ask.
It is an impossible expectation for anyone or any platform to meet all needs of all people or it’s audience.
A worse expectation for someone to thing there expectation is the exception.
A differentiator of successful merchants is when they need an atypical feature they invest in that feature, or do the diligence for purchasing a theme to meet as many needs as possible before further customizations are needed.
Purchase a theme with this feature
Customize the current theme
Continue to burn time shortlisting apps hoping for a better fit
Hello! I know it’s been a couple of weeks since you posted your topic, and I hope you found a solution. If not, you might want to try the Rubik Variant Images app. It allows you to display only the relevant images for each product variant on the product page. The app is free for up to 10 product configurations.
