How to Add and Pick a FREE Gift

Hello Guys,
So am trying to create a product page, which i have done. Its a single product that consists of a few colour options. With this product I wish to include a FREE product which the customer can choose a free product they wish to receive.

For example. The customer lands on the page picks a colour and then picks out of the options given which product they would like. end of.

With the standard “product” page, it seems to not work as I imagined it would.

How can I do this? I hope that made sense.

We do need to setup the Buy X Get Y automatic discount and add a custom code to add the free gift.

Thanks for the quick response. I get the Buy X Get Y part but is there a way to display the free options on the same page via a drop down option? so customer just pick the product color option then in the next drop down selects the free gift and then just add to cart etc?

Yes, we can create a dropdown of a list of products that are assigned as the free gift.

For this we need to create a collection of the free gift and then show the products in the dropdown list.
