How To Add Related/Recommended Products Sections in Product Page (Taste Theme)

I would like to add a ‘related products’ (or products you may also like) section in my Product Page:

https://esprovivo.com/products/after-party-full-bodied-dark-chocolate

How can I do this in the Taste Theme?

Hello,
There are many ways to do this. I will give you one option on how you can achieve it:

  1. Click on Customize
  2. Change from Home Page → Default Product Page
  3. On the left side navigation, click on Add Sections.
  4. There you will see Related Product section that you can add to the site.

Other way is add the section through the code which if you need me to do for free, let me know.

Hello @Taknify and @rayizam ,

The related Products Sections mostly work on product metafields filled by the Shopify App “Search & Discovey”.

Search & Discovery creates and fills those metafields with similiar products and gives you the option to add own recommendations.

To install Shopify Search & Discovery go to recommended apps → install search & Discovery

When installed go to the app and the product recommendations will be generated automatically. If you want to add some products to the recommendation or hide the generated products you can also do this in the app.

Best Regards Erik

I did not have related products in my ‘add section’ area. see screenshot.

You can only achieve recommendations related to one product. Thats how recommendations work. So Mostly Recommendations are only available for Product Pages.

Hi @Erik_Abrio

I have a question about adding related products to the Search & Discovery app. I have read online that adding related products on metafields can be beneficial for SEO as it is considered an internal link and they call it a Gold Mine for SEO. Many people are doing this to improve their website’s ranking on Google and the SERPs. Can you confirm if this information is accurate? I want to ensure that I am taking the right approach. Thank you for clarifying this for me. I look forward to your response.

Hey @EagleHunted ,

Well the Metafield itself does not impact your SEO. But showing recommended Products on our PDPs can affect SEO and SERPs. So if the metafield has products and and these products are shown on your Detail Pages it can affect SEO and SERPs and improve it. So all in all its a Yes as long as you show your recommendations on your Shop Frontend.

Best Regards :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey @Erik_Abrio

Thank you for your prompt response. Can I continue to add these related products to the product details page in order to enhance my ranking on Google and SERPs? I didn’t quite understand how to add it to my Frontend. Could you please explain this to me? Could it help increasing my organic traffic and fixing my bounce rate ?

Hi @EagleHunted ,

You go in your Theme Editor → then you go to your product template. Then you search for a section called similar products or related products. This section is mostly automatically connected to the recommendation metafield created by Search Discovery. At least this is the case if you are using the DAWN Theme. Depending on what Theme you are using its maybe working different.

In fact this can increase your organic traffic and maybe fix your bounce rate. But keep in mind there are many things you can do to increase traffic and improve conversions.

Hi @Erik_Abrio

Unfortunately, I was unable to locate similar or related products. However, I have found some other choices on the list that I have highlighted. By the way, I am using a page builder app called Ecomposer and I was showing some recommended products, but I have been advised that it could distract customers from the page, so I have hidden it. In order to increase traffic and improve conversions, I have added a metafield for all my products and keywords to boost products on Google and SERPs. In the first couple of days, I saw an increase in organic traffic with over 50 visitors, 2 or 3 adding to cart, and 1 checkout. Unfortunately, they abandoned the cart later. I tried retargeting them with automation emails and offering a 20% discount, but they did not return. I have also tried various methods to reduce bounce rate and have increased my website speed. The only thing I have not tried is A/B testing because it is expensive. I am unsure of what else I could do beyond these efforts.

@EagleHunted

Recommended or Related Products dont distract people from your site when you place them right. They are additions towards the shown product. So keep them in if you have them.

Conversion Rates mostly are between 1 to 4 percent. So i can understand how frustrating this is. Maybe you should start some marketing and ads for your shop on socials to achieve more visitors to your site. Highlighting Products on Google is a good way. Sometimes it just needs some time to see the results.

Best Regards.

Hi @Erik_Abrio

Regarding the related products that I can’t find in the theme editor, should I try adding them through the ecomposer app? Also, how can I add related products from the same collection in the view? I have tried running ads before, but they failed because my website was slow on mobile. Here’s my Conversion rate on the last 90 days it’s too low.
