Hello, customising Dwell theme - notice there are no payment icons showing (visa/paypal/mastercard etc) - which are usually automatically integrated into the bottom of the footer.
Shopify support says this comes under ‘customisation’ - but surely, payment icons are more important than social media icons? Don’t understand the reasoning behind why payment icons are now excluded.
Not sure if your assessment of payment icons usually being integrated into the footer is correct.. They’re a theme feature just like social media icons. Some themes have them, some, like basic free ones, don’t. So yes, Shopify Support is 100% correct. You didn’t need to contact Support though. It’s just basic knowledge of the Shopify Theme ecosystem. If it bothers you, you’re free to get a better theme or get a badge app.
Howie… I have seen you respond to other’s posts and it appears you like to be condescending and belittling and try to make people feel uncomfortable - especially when it’s about a “basic free” theme query. I have used a “basic free” theme (debut) for my shop for 6 years, it has (and continues) to serve me well - and yes, the payment icons are automatically intergrated into that theme. People come on here to try and get some help (irrespective of whether it’s about a free or paid theme). Just because something is free, does not mean that people should have the “put up or shut up” attitude - even with free themes, Shopify is always looking to improve them - I recently contacted Shopify to give feedback on the infinite scroll feature not being user friendly on the dwell theme… they agreed and added the opt out feature.
Yes… one cannot expect great things with free themes, but that doesn’t mean one cannot look to see if basic features can be improved with the help of others on this forum. Not everyone chooses a free theme just because it’s free… I chose Dwell simply because it has the personality I like and most resembles my current theme.
Please be mindful of how you respond to people simply seeking a bit of help.
No offense but I’m not one of those coddling a.i. responses that’s gonna sugar coat just to save face. I’m blunt. That’s just who I am. I guve help when I can, but I’m not gonna say “I understand your frustration, that must be difficult… blah blah blah”. You posted a complaint about your theme not having this or that. You’re experienced for many years now, which makes your post really weird. I can come off as offensive, and I apologize for that but to be honest I really don’t mind when I get silenced. I’m not gonna change for this woke board.
Onto your wanting some payment icons in the footer. Again, it’s a theme feature, so you can customize your theme or get a different one. If you’re looking for easy copy/paste I’m sure one of the ai bots will chime in soon.
Not every theme can do everything, that’s how messes are made , especially in free themes.
Evaluate themes thoroughly before over commiting.
Direct any feature requests to a shopify support advisor directly.
If the theme has a custom-liquid block in the area then use any of the available snippets found online by searching for all the previous work on this.
Or just insert a new custom-liquid section if it can be on it’s own row.

There’s also asking the sidekick assistant to generate a custom section if your willing to burn time on AI/LLM randomness.
It’s not about you or choice of theme.
It’s about self awareness, people coming here are running businesses , and since most businesses fail they need reality not fancy.
Most new merchants have no idea how to approach even basic things, most don’t even bother to read the shopify help manual for the software their business is built on.
Getting sycophantic answers does not improve this situation.
Try to read contributors post with the intent they are seeking to help EVERYONE that comes long after your gone, when the contributors have zero knowledge about the future seekers knowledge or even what you know. meaning: they have no idea if those future people even understand themes differ, some people really think EVERY theme is the same just with different labels and settings.
Contributors explaining expectations in clear terms is a courtesy of their time given to those seeking to use the time of others for personal benefit especially when they bring no homework at all not even a google search.
That courtesy applies to every single searcher that may read this post with unfounded expectations long after any of us have forgotten it.
There are plenty of AI-bots that will tell anyone exactly what they want to hear in order to grease the wheels to get access to a store for “free” work.
For actual humans why go out of your way to read their answers like they are trying to personally slight your ego, sigh.
Thank you Paul… in regard to Dwell theme… it only requires a few small tweaks for me to be satisfied with it. Just seeing what I can do for myself (with assistance here) before handing over to shopify partner to complete what I can’t do.
Edit:
For me, it’s not even about trying to belittle or act like an a-hole. I suppose it’s more like a reality-check. Like everyone here seems to want everything handed to them, and they’re not willing to do the slightest bit of work for it. I could Google you’re entire post and paste the answer for you if that’s what you want. That’s basically all what you get here with some exceptions of a few crazy good coders.
Yes I know I’m supposed to be nice and a that. I know it’s in the rules. But you know everyone else breaks rule number 2 without even knowing. I understand this is a forum for helping. I just don’t agree that it’s a forum to get free answers. I guess I’m just built different. Sorry
Was this necessary… both yours & Howie’s responses are not rooted in “reality checks” - but on your frustrations with this support forum and contempt for those who try to use it. Help if you want to help people, keep it moving if you don’t. I have been fortunate & grateful that I received the kind help of others on here recently. And all this talk of AI , google etc, sorry, but it flies over my head, as someone nearing 60 years old, I know very little of this new technology and how to navigate it. I’ll delete this post as it serves no purpose to anyone. Have a good day.
Since you’ve spoke to Supoprt, didn’t they mentioned that they can do that for free?
I believe this is still the case, or they only do what’s listed there?

Thank you Tim, ironically, since the time of posting this topic, shopify have now integrated payment icons into Dwell theme (without need for coding) - just add them to footer like you would social media icons. Thank you for your advice & previous help in solving two previous help requests.
Shukran Hammad, appreciate you taking the time out to offer advice and suggestions. Shopify have now since added the payment icons into this theme, so no need for coding. I’ll keep this post up as yours & others’ advice and possible solutions may be useful to others using a similiar theme.
Thank you HoppyApps for taking the time to offer advice and suggestions. Shopify have now added payment icons to this theme - without the need for coding. Thank you also for your recommendation of potential apps that solve the initial issue.
