A few days ago, we received an email from Shopify Trust & Safety team. They stated that due to multiple Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Takedown Notices, they shut down our store.
A few other notices preceded this, and the same company filed all of them.
Each time I tried to explain to the Shopify team that it wasn’t done on purpose and because we work using the dropshipping business model, sourcing our products from dozens of suppliers, it is not feasible for us to check all their items on whether all the designs are authentic and copyright-protected.
We were more than willing to cooperate in this matter and contacted the copyright owner multiple times right after the first notice was filed. We offered to take down all the products they believed were infringing their copyright, but they ignored this and continued to file DMCA Takedown Notice over the last two months one by one.
I suspect it was done on purpose, so rather than giving us a chance to remove all the items in one go, they deliberately continued to report one or two items from our store in each claim.
Eventually, Shopify applied its repeat infringer policy and closed the access to our store.
I believe this is not a fair decision and would like to appeal it. I would really appreciate any help with a situation I am trapped in.
