Thank you. My product is an EBOOK. I would like to send an automatic email with the link to download. Preferably this would be done by cusotmizing the purchasers receipt but i do not see an option for that. I have looked in the automations and that would work but it appears that they would have to have checked to opt in to receiving marketing emails. Any suggestions?
If you are using a digital goods app they should have help/support around customizing your order notifications. Even if you aren’t looking at the docs for such apps may guide you on learning to edit notification templates.

General guideline is emails someone is expecting are not marketing emails.
Emails sent about a purchase, or specifically containing a product itself, are transactional emails.
So they don’t really fall under the marketing opt-in umbrella.
Though regional-law/apps/services may not distinguish between the concepts and may sloppily require opt-in for everything to prevent consumer/platform/app abuse.
Look for transactional mail services or apps instead of marketing automation apps.
