im making the step from Etsy to shopify as Etsy no longer allow me to sell my patches. I have had the site for a while but never started a review section. At the moment I am using my Etsy feedback, I’m just looking for a plain app that can sit on the page as a widget and show potential buyers a star rating and a comment on their experience. Does anyone have any ideas on such an app?

Sorry to hear about the Etsy tool, but migrating to Shopify is definitely a good idea. I would suggest looking into some plugins on Shopify Market: https://apps.shopify.com/search?q=review.
You may also manually migrate your Etsy reviews over. The easiest way is to include a testimonial section on your homepage. You can achieve this by adding a slideshow element with text and graphics.
Go to Shopify Admin > Online Store > Theme > Customize > Add Section (more) > Slidshow:
