I would like to create a “thank you for your order…for next purchase use this discount code: xxxxxxxxxxxx..” card using Canva to give all my customers after a purchase and would like to know if anyone has done this, as a general rule, do you just add the twelve digit code or is there a more efficient way of including the code? I don’t see any way to rename it- or create a QR code connected to a link. Just curious if it’s the norm to just print the 12 digit code and have the customer type it in at checkout.
thanks and hope everyone is doing well!
Great question. As long as you don’t require each code to be unique, then this is easily done in the Discount section of your admin with the following steps:
Click Create discount, and then click Discount code.
In the Discount code section, do either of the following:
Enter a name for the new discount code, for example, 15offnecklaces.
Click Generate code.
Now any customer using that code in their checkout will receive the discount. You’ll be able to include it in your cards seamlessly with your branding and avoid a big 12 digit number.
Thanks so much! I see now that I was missing a very important part- where
it says “discount code” I had not realized that I could rename it first,
before generating the code. Your response was very helpful!
Glad to hear it! Discount codes are such a great way to increase customer retention and I love the personal touch of the added thank you cards. Here’s a handy blog post that delves into other ways you can drive that revenue.
How are you finding the platform so far? Are you making and shipping handmade products? Would love to learn more about your business!
Discount codes are definitely a great way to customize the name that your customers enter at checkout so that it’s not a random 12 digits code. You can customize your discount code name by going to Discounts → Create discount → Discount code → And add your custom name here:
As you suggested, another great way is to use a QR Code that, when scanned, automatically applies the discount code to your customers’ orders. To do this you can try our app Releasit QR Code Generator that allows you to generate fully customizable dynamic QR Codes fully integrated with your Shopify store.
On the app it’s really easy to add a discount code to your QR Code, then you can download your QR Code as a PNG and use it on your Canva project:
This 100% does not work in my shop (Mr. Parker Theme, if that matters). I go through the steps, write the discount code I would like (“welcome23”) and as soon as I click Generate, it populates with infuriating 12-digit code (PY3HS4TJRZT6).
I think I have the most up-to-date and I believe best long-term solution for this - I don’t usually talk about my own product, but I think it’s so much of what you need and more that here goes … https://youtu.be/yGLNLeLaOS0 Let me know if I am off the mark.
