I’m pretty fresh to Shopify and after searching through the community for an answer to this question I didn’t see anything related that doesn’t point to an app to solve this simple thing so I wanted to save some time and just ask.
Where is the setting that allows us to be able to have a customer select multiple pills for variants and have the price update?
For example:
If my product is a car and I want my variant labeled “Configuration” to include a “Steering wheel”, “Tires” and “Fuel” I am only allowed to select one. The price updates correctly for each but I need them to be able to select all of these options and the price updates accordingly.
This feels like a basic tool that should be available w/o the need for addons and apps and for the life of me I can’t figure out where to trigger it.
Would someone please point me in the right direction? Or maybe tell me how I can break these out into different sections, have pills and update the price as they are selected? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
You can create the 3 values under 3 different variant options. So for example:
Configuration Wheel (is the 1st option):
Steering Wheel (will be the only value under this option)
Configuration Tires (2nd option)
Tires (will be the only value under this option)
Configuration Fuel (3rd option)
Fuel (will be the only value under this option)
If you think the options will look repetitive to the customer (the titles), you can simply hide it on the frontend via CSS so that it’s not visible to the customer.
I think the only issue with this is that when you create them this way, the only price options available are all of the items or none of the items. You don’t have the option to have 2 of the options and have the price update.
I did something similar with this where each section had a “not” option, for example:
Config Wheels:
No Wheels – Wheels
Config Fuel:
No Fuel — Fuel
Config Steering:
No Steering Wheel – Steering Wheel
This way, at least I had the option to set prices for mix and match. I just don’t like having the extra clutter and was hoping there was a far more simplified way to do this.
Begin by creating your main product without any options or variants.
Install the app and create a new option set.
Include an option labeled “Configuration”. Choose an option type that aligns with your requirements, such as Checkbox or Buttons (ensure multi-select is enabled). Add your option values, which were previously your variants, along with their respective prices.
