Identifying the best affiliates

I have attempted collaborations in the past. 1 Many of these influencers have communities of other influencers reacting to their posts. In reality none of their posts drive brand awareness or website traffic. Then these accounts that interact want to collab to get free products. How do you identify the best collaborators or affilates that don’t waste your time and resources?

I think you can focus on results-driven collaborators, not just big follower counts. Look for influencers who have real audience engagement—comments from potential customers, not just other influencers. Check their past campaign performance (ask for sales data or website traffic insights). Use affiliate links or unique discount codes to track actual conversions before committing to long-term deals. Prioritize those whose followers ask, “Where can I buy this?” instead of just dropping emojis
