In Store POS Setup without using Shopify payments

We’re an existing bricks and mortar store with a large online store as well, migrating from magento to Shopify. We won’t be using Shopify payments for transactions but our own third party providers.

I am struggling to work out what hardware we need and how to integrate it into the shopify POS app on our tablet.

We currently have a wired in cash drawer, barcode scanner and separate card pdq so I am struggling to see how these would integrate into the tablet till system.

I believe the till setup can only work within shopify payments, and I fail to see any section or details of what hardware we may need to upgrade to in order to sync everything.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Shopify POS Hardware is only able to process payments via Shopify Payments. If you’re looking to use a third party payment processor in conjunction with Shopify POS, then you’ll need to set up something called a ‘Custom Payment Method’ within Shopify POS to track purchases using this payment method. We have a help document here that goes over this information in some more detail. In regards to what third party hardware works with Shopify POS, we have an FAQ page here that outlines POS’ compatibility with specific third party hardware. I’m sure this will be helpful to you in regards to determining if your hardware os compatible with Shopify POS!

Lastly, I wanted to suggest that you consider reaching out to our Retail Sales Team, or even our Retail Support Team, with any specific questions you have about the compatibility of your POS hardware.
