Is allowing guest checkout a good idea for online stores?

do you guys allow this in your stores? Or is it better to force them to sign up?

I allow guest checkout. I am new here but have been on Etsy for many years. When Etsy started allowing guest checkout my sales increased. Creating an account can be a stumbling block, why put obstacles in the way of a sale?

So True! It would be an obstacle, I do the same for my website as well, allow the guests to checkout as guests without making an account, but I do require an email in order to check out. Do you guys do the same?

Yes, I need their email should there be a problem with the order. That is taken at checkout but they still don’t need an account. I think many people are account weary and feedback weary so I try not to demand either.

“Account weary” is spot on!

As a consumer and business owner myself, I absolutely dreaded adding another account with password to my book too.

If you still want to let customers have basic access to order history and easily make repeat orders, I’ve made something for this - the No-Account Repeat Order PRO Shopify app.

Any customers can just entered an email address for a passwordless and OTP based verification. There is no need for account, or if they have account they don’t have to login. Once verified, they can see their order history (including guest checkout ones, as long as they are tied to the same email address) and make repeat order with 1-click "Shop this order again**" button**.

If you like to try it out, the No-Account Repeat Order PRO app has 5-days free trial, you can get it here from the Shopify App Store. I’d love to know if you find it helpful.
