Is altering checkout steps possible on Shopify Plus Plan?

Can you alter the checkout steps if you are using the Shopify Plus Plan? My intention is to unite multiple steps (e.g. Payment and Shipping) into one step.

Is it even possible to make the whole checkout process a single page, so that it would be a “Single Step Checkout”. I want to do this on my own without any apps, only by changing the checkout.liquid file or by including some custom code.

This cannot be modified as steps are necessary for the flow of the checkout.
