I was contacted by Designslic Media about optimization and copywriting. Does anyone know anything about this company in the UK? I did some research and found that some of their pages are flagged with being unsecure. Are they a shopify partner? Does anyone know?
Topic summary
Multiple Shopify store owners report receiving identical, unsolicited emails from Designslic Media offering optimization and copywriting services. The outreach typically begins with vague messages like âHey! Anyone here?â and uses generic, copy-pasted content with low-resolution screenshots of supposed client success stories.
Key concerns raised:
- Company registration shows as dormant in UK Companies House since 2021, nearly struck off in May
- Claims to be UK-based but charges in USD and states theyâre actually US-based when questioned
- Website pages flagged as unsecure
- No verifiable evidence of being an official Shopify Partner
- Aggressive sales tactics that persist even after polite refusals
Common experiences:
- Generic criticism of websites without understanding business context
- Unrealistic sales growth screenshots (e.g., $4k to $120k monthly)
- Contact through store contact forms rather than professional channels
- Continued spam emails after declining services
Consensus: Participants unanimously advise avoiding this company. One user who actually used their services reported disappointment, stating the work didnât deliver promised value. The discussion remains a warning thread for other store owners who receive similar outreach.
I couldnât tell you if they are a Shopify partner or not. However, the sales person that contacted me came off as rude and condescending, with no interest in my business other than as an opportunity to make money from me. I was clear that I did not appreciate the way they came across, and that, based on that, I was not interested in working with their company. Rather than just taking no for an answer, or simply politely saying something like âplease keep us in mind if you change your mind in the future,â I got another extremely long hard sales pitch. Despite all the (extremely low-resolution) âscreen shotsâ of supposed reviews they sent me, I canât really find any ACTUAL information about them. I have no intention of doing business with a company that comes across like a sketchy used car salesman. That said, your mileage may vary.
they might have a company registered in the UK but it is a Dormant with no accounts history even through they have been âTradingâ since 2021, have a Registered office and are charging for a service, where is the money they are charging going and why are a UK company charging in $ and not ÂŁ.
on these points along something screams dodge.
I received exactly the same mail a couple days ago, a very sad attempt to win over customers. I deleted the email straight away.
Ohhh same same, I almost fell for this cause I am desperate to get my sales up
Same here
Exactly the same message I received. Glad I checked the reviews. I was just about to hook up with them.
So glad I looked it up here! I read that all of you guys get the same approach through the mail. Nice copy/paste they did.
The price was nice for the amount of work they offer. Especially the platinum one with the lifetime support.
Nice to find someone with actual experience with them. To find out that the encounter is not positive, so I can keep my hardworking money in my pocket. Sorry for my bad english ( dutchman over here)
I too recieved the exact same email. Glad I have found this page.
I am very glad I did some research and came across this forum. I got the exact same email sent to me. It looks like they copy and pasted even âHey, anyone here?â. I still replied professionally anyway. Everyone reading this, please always remember to do your own research before paying for anything.
I got the exact E- Mail from a Sarah. It also started with âHey! Anyone here?â
Yep, same for me too, except my contact was from âRosieâ starting off with âHey there anyone hereâ
I usually delete but something made me dig a little deeper.
According to Companies House they are a UK company, not traded since 2021 and almost struck off in May.
I emailed back but they replied saying they were actually a US company (so why the UK registration/domain/address etc etc etc?)
Anyway it was straight onto the hard sell. Lots of glowing reviews and screenshots of customers sales going through the roof⌠providing you pay them.
One screenshot showed sales going from average $4k per month to $120k⌠really? Has anyone actually thought about what it would take to ramp up to that amount of sales in a short time. Iâm sure youâd need extra staff for packing, customer care, space for stock and what about all the cash to buy the stock in the first place?
Personally Iâm not really sure about all of this âOrganic SEOâ stuff, we get approached daily with emails promising this sort of thing. You really have got to have the right products at the right price in the first place. Weâre already quite high on the Google search terms for some of our products anyway and thatâs just through hard work!
Iâd love to speak to someone whoâs actually paid someone to do all this and what they actually got out of it, but funnily enough Iâve never met anyone.
Same! I have already been screwed over by another company (long story). I replied to Sarah with a list of questions because I was burnt and my trust factor is gone. She or whoever relied to my email with the information that was pretty convincing. I stumbled here as I was researching them and glad I did. Thanks!!
I believe that I could use a little help as I am not even sure I am 100% correctly setup from the fiasco with another company. I donât mean this to sound wrong, butâŚwhere are the US companies with legit US employees?
I received the same message.
Thank you for posing this question. I was off-put by the brazen email but I know I need some help. You would think that if they truly had the capability to market effectively, and new their audience, and in a way I think we all want our businesses to be seen, they would stop using cookie cutter emails and be more genuine and authentic. I almost scheduled an appointment to talk to them, but I do not want to be pressured and want a reputable company that understands people. Thanks again, everyone, for the valuable feed-back!
Itâs the same thing with me! I was contacted by the same person, Evelyn Rosie, with the same bunch of screenshots.
Thank you so much for the input, I was about to fall into the trap!
Well, they are consistant. I just got the same email. Iâm so glad I checked here before diving in. I definitely need help and their package deal seemed perfect, but the low res, copy/past feedback posted was ridiculous for a company that is in this line of work. Iâll keep looking. Thanks to everyone for the heads up.
To Whom It May Concern,
I strongly advise against using the services of DesignSlic. My experience with this company has been disappointing and unproductive. While they may be capable of creating visually appealing websites, this can easily be achieved through other means, such as user-friendly apps or self-guided platforms, at a fraction of the cost.
Unfortunately, the services provided did not meet my expectations in terms of value, delivery, or professionalism. In my opinion, their involvement in your website may lead to unnecessary expenses and frustration, as they do not seem to deliver on their promises.
If youâre considering working with DesignSlic, I recommend taking the time to explore other options or even managing your website independently. It will likely save you money and provide greater satisfaction.
Best regards,
Marc Harte
I received exact same email today. Thanks for sharing your experience.
