Is it good to use custom shopify theme or readymade Shopify envato themes

Hi, We are planning to use Shopify but we are not sure if a custom build theme will be a good idea to start with or a readymade theme will be a good idea. We designed that using Figma and done something exclusively. I am attaching theme here in attchments. Please let me know if we can develop exact same theme or what will be challenges if we will convert this in Shopify. If anyone can guide me a little that will be awesome start. If you want your site to look exactly (100%) like your Figma design, then yes, you would need to have a theme custom designed for you.

I would never recommend having a theme created 100% from scratch though. If you were going to go the custom-design route, then I’d pick a pre-made theme from the Shopify theme store, and then hire someone to make custom coding edits to it, to modify it to match your Figma design. Doing it this way will still be expensive, but it’ll be a heck-of-a-lot cheaper than having a new theme custom coded from scratch.

Ideally, you’d just pick a theme from the Shopify theme store, that’s as close to your Figma design as you can find, and then accept the subtle differences it may have, and only have to make a handful of custom coding edits for the ‘must-haves’.

I think you could get pretty close to what your Figma design is, with the right Shopify theme. It’s best to be flexible on the final look of the site though, or else you’ll end up spending a lot on custom coding edits to get it to look 100% the same.

The important parts are the colours, images, and then the general layout / functionality. Having the site match your Figma design 100% probably isn’t going to lead to more sales. Having it match 80-90% will more than likely be perfectly fine (your customers won’t know any different).

If you break down your Figma design into actual sections/blocks, it would go something like this:

  • header with search bar
  • slideshow
  • featured promotions
  • collection list
  • featured collection
  • banner image
  • featured collection
  • icon list
  • image with text
  • newsletter signup
  • footer w/ 4 columns

Pretty much any premium theme from the Shopify theme store will have these sections/blocks built into them. It would just be a matter of finding a theme where the style/look of each block/section is something you like (or can live with).
