Hi, I’m looking for an option to use Shopify as my frontend and keep using M2 in the backend. Any opinions if this is possible? If yes, what I need to do?
Can I only make a redirect for any visitor coming to 123456.com so it will go to Shopify? What about backend since I still need it to be M2?
Shopify uses Liquid as a templating language, which means it produces on the server-side the relevant content for each template/section. If you’re not using the Shopify backend you’d need to jump through some really strange hoops to be able to have the customizer work for you. Which would technically mean, building a whole other storefront. I’m also unsure of the advantage this solution would offer.
In case you are looking to migrate from M2 to Shopify, I suggest you use LitExtension’s automated shopping cart migration tool to facilitate your shift to Shopify. Import all your data seamlessly and accurately.

Currently you can run the Free Demo via LitExtension Store Migration App on Shopify App Store. After checking your demo migration results, if you are satisfied, you can proceed to the full migration. The set up will be completed within a few minutes.
Additionally, we have the option to redirect your pages with our 301 redirects. This option allows you to redirect your old store’s URLs to the new ones during the migration. As a result, you can maintain your SEO ranking and customer experience after the website re-platforming.
