Well done on being cautious around emails that you receive! It is always a good idea to err on the side of caution when dealing with any emails, as phishing scams can sometimes be very convincingly disguised as genuine emails. A huge part of protecting yourself against phishing scams is understanding the warning signs. It’s a good idea to read all messages carefully no matter who they appear to come from and always be sure to scrutinize websites, no matter how safe or familiar they might seem.
In this case, it does indeed sound like a genuine email address that we would use. When you purchase a domain on Shopify, part of the process involves confirming the registrar email address. Can you confirm that you have recently purchased a domain on Shopify?
On the subject of being cautious, have you already added two-step authentication to your Shopify account? It is a very good idea to do so as it makes it much more difficult for someone to gain access to your account. With 2FA enabled, even if the worst were to happen and someone got your login details, they would still not be able to login to your account without the second step.
