Issues with Shopify advertising mailers

Hello,

I am a carrier with the postal service and have had a few issues with the mailers that Shopify sends out to my area. I have tried diligently to find a way to contact Shopify through official channels but supervisors have not found a way and there is never a return address to contact Shopify effectively so here I am.

#1 - The textured cardstock with the scent (burnt syrup?) that is used for all of your mailings causes the cards to stick together especially when warm (which will be in every postal vehicle). I end up getting cards from other areas stuck to my deliveries that are destroyed or clumps of Shopify cards that have fused together and become one object that I can’t deliver. Because there is no return address we simply have to destroy them, it is time consuming, frustrating, and your product isn’t able to be delivered.

#2 - That texture puts off a scent (burnt syrup) that in high quantities (like in a mail truck) and when warmed by the sun cause head aches and nausea, especially with older carriers. Some of us are worried that there could potentially be toxic exposure issues. The headaches can be debilitating.

#3 - Myself and other carriers have had MANY customers who are retired, don’t run their own business, or are simply not interested in your product who come to us ANGRY because they want to STOP receiving your mailers, but with no return address or direct way to contact you they don’t have the ability to be removed from the mailing list. It makes carrier’s work days harder, more stressful, AND your company wastes money repeatedly sending these mailers to people who absolutely DO NOT want them.

EDIT- While comparing with other carriers mailers we discovered that some flyers do have an opt-out, however non of the ones on my route do because…almost the entire bottom inch have all ripped off due to being stuck together. The textured paper is a disaster.

PLEASE change the textured paper used to make your mailers, it’s too sticky for the mainstream and causes us headaches. CONTACT your advertising/production staff and let them know there are multiple issues with this paper that result in much of their hard work getting destroyed.

PLEASE give customers a way to opt out of receiving these mailers. The fact that the mailers have no return address to write back to is SHADY and really irritates people which in turn makes them ANGRY with their postal carriers.
