I’ve noticed some REALLY big issues happening lately, the first being that the reporting is all screwed up as of late, and our reports and analysis pages are super out of whack. Nothing on that end seems to be working correctly.
The bigger issue we’ve run into is that we’ve had products have their attributes swapped with other products. Some of our hats which are one-size only, are suddenly being changed with sweaters. It still lists the description as normal, but the pricing changes overnight, as well as there being variants, which is not the case for the hats. So we’re not sure how the description and title are staying the same, but the prices change, the variants are added to random products, and more. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Thank you for sharing that information for us to help you out. I can assure you that the analytics reporting should all be working as expected with all delays resolved. If you are still having delays in your analytics please reach out to our live support to report that.
For the issue you are experiencing with your products details changing, that is definitely something we want to investigate more closely. Have you created a ticket for troubleshooting support yet? You can also start investigating what is making these product changes by reviewing your activity timeline inside your admin. In the lower right hand side of the admin home page you will see a timeline of activities. This should show what user account or app is making these product changes. The timeline will only be able to show the last 100 actions taken, so if lots of changes are made you may not be able to see all of them in the timeline.
I would recommend reaching out to our live support for additional help with this issue so we can help you track down what is causing this to happen. To access our live support, please follow this link: Shopify Help Center. Next, you will want to follow the on screen prompts to sign in, choose your topic and issue and at the bottom of the help articles provided will be all available live support options.
I reached out to support and was chatting with someone for the last 90 minutes via their Chat bubble support box, and ultimately they told me they’d need more time to check out the issue.
Some additional context:
-I’ve sorted through the activity, because I can confirm that prior to Tuesday of this week, our products were in order. I checked all the activity available and saw nothing that would have been related to the changing of prices or variants, everything that was listed in the activity was the adding of new, unrelated products.
-Another point of note, I am the primary handler of our admin page. There is a buyer on staff who I work with closely who I can confirm has not been doing anything that would affect this, and she is involved in adding products and images, but she hasn’t done anything that would affect the variants of these particular products. These products should have been left completely untouched, but for some reason they appear to be taking on multiple categories from other products.
So from a quick cursory search of some of the affected products:
Title, Description, Tags, and Collections are 100% Confirmed unaffected.
The Variants, and Price are 100% Confirmed to be changed.
Finally, the product Vendor, Sales channels, availability, status, and product Type are not something we can be sure there were changes to. These categories are too close to each other for us to be able to determine whether or not there were actual changes. I’ve only noticed the changes for one specific vendor at this time, and I need to do more searching to see if there are affected products from other brands as well.
I’m glad to hear you have connected with our authenticated support for help with this. Please make sure to note any changes you are seeing and the timeframes that they are happening in. Dates, accurate times, and product affected, are important if our technical team needs to do a review of actions taken on the products.
Just another point to bring to this issue that may help it become solved:
We noticed it happening again this morning, as my boss was looking through a particular collection of products that we have in our warehouse, he noticed that sometimes, the system would carry over inventory quantities and prices from one page to the next, while not changing the rest of the product, with a prompt message that says “Save Changes?”.
So in my understanding, either he’s going too fast and the computer is trying to keep up, and the values in the fields that correspond to variant title and variant price are being carried from one product to the next one in the series (in a way, the computer would be trying to reference the next item but because of how fast he may be going through the pages, he may have inadvertently be corrupting the pages as he goes).
Is it possible that going through collections too quickly can cause values to be carried across, and then that potentially, if the person who is navigating the website happens not to notice the “Save Changes?” text box and clicks through it too quickly, and that’s what’s been happening?
Let me know if this sounds like a feasible solution for what exactly is going on here.
Thanks for the follow up on this. While I haven’t seen that exact experience before it is possible that is what is happening. I know that when doing bulk changes in the bulk editor or other areas the site does need time to finish applying the changes before you leave the page. What you are describing is definitely in the realm of possibility.
I would recommend trying to do a screen recording while your boss is working as per normal so that you can go back and review the changes he made and the changes that have been saved in the admin.
