So I’m looking at using 2 different companies, One because the cost is cheaper for my customers and profit margins are higher. (as this is just hobby for me). And the other because the variety of products the offer is greater. It appears if I test and do one product from each store it automatically selects expedited shipping. is there a way to still make it the customers choice. I have set custom rates based on location for shipping myself.
Can I see what your custom rates look like? How are the products, added, through the 3rd party print on demand app? If so, it probably has to do with the country of origin they set. You mat not have a choice if you’re drop shipping, but word to the wise: make sure the products you’re selling offer ePacket shipping or you’ll be dealing with a heavy customer service load when people wait over a month for their package.
Again, really depends on the platforms.

It is 2 3rd party print on demand companies. one is Print Tailor. (new one) and printify old current option. And i seem to get standard rates if I order from one store or another in my Shopify cart. But if I combine it forces and Express shipping. I mean the easy option is to just put a separate section for clothing and advise in the header that everyone order the clothing as a sperate order but if there is a way to make them feel seamless and have one cart i’m interested. As for time. right now the time frame is about 14 Calendar days on average for prinitfy and no one seems to mind. (I"m a steamer with a community that just looking to rep the brand and support) so as long as. Print Tailor is maybe no more then a week longer 21 calendar days. (because I can offer products %25 percent cheaper then I have been.) I don’t think anyone will mind. Just wondering if there is a seamless way to deal with being forced in to expedited shipping when it’s a combo order.
Ah I see. Didn’t even think of that but makes complete sense. This isn’t so much an issue with your third party vendors. It’s a limitation of Shopify. Why it is choosing that particular shipping option when it’s multiple vendors is probably a coincidence (probably a combo of products that doesn’t fit under the other option either due to price or weight) Can’t know for sure without playing around with it.
The problem you’ll have either way though, is that Shopify does not support multiple shipments w/ multiple carriers, on the front-end. The customer will be offered eligible rates on their order, and on the backend, depending on your packing materials, you may split it into two shipments, and you can, and you can also choose different carriers, but it’s not the customer’s choice, and if you’re dropshipping then you wouldn’t be the one doing that anyway. If you want to find an app that might add that functionality, I would search for the term “multi-vendor marketplace” probably.
Now, ignoring everything I just said, the fact that one rate is cross-border and the other is domestic makes me wonder if it actually has something to do with the product’s country of origin. Can’t be sure from here though without more info. Maybe modify them so both of them are under the same shipping zone, and then see if it’s still doing it. That will at least narrow the issue down to whether the zone, or the rate, is the problem.
To clarify, is this drop-shipping? Because in that case I’m not sure why you’d be the one dealing with the shipping rates anyway?
Sorry for the wall of text, I started writing thinking I had the answer then realized it was more complicated as I got into it. Hard to diagnose without being able to play around with it a bit or see how your products are configured.
So your correct this isn’t dropshipping it’s merch on demand. I will see what happens if I can change point of origin if that’s even a thing otherwise I could just create a separate page for clothing and advise folks in the banner to order them separately. Or maybe remove the express option.
Okay in that case I’m going to assume the problem is in your shipping options. If you want, invite me as staff with access to only the shipping settings, and I can see if I can diagnose it. Otherwise, I would spend your time there. Try different combinations of products from a mix of vendors, as well as only one vendor. It might have to do with the fact that one is set by weight and the other by price, which is a bit of an odd choice. I’d personally go by weight with both, except for If you have free shipping or some other promo beyond a certain cart value.
So I tried again last night and it no longer requires expidited shipping with a mix of suppliers. Will double check it this am. Next step is to figure out propper shipping rates. I appreciate you help thus far.
