Looking for a good financial software, hopefully free

I’m just starting out, haven’t made my first sale yet, but I would like to have a system in place, instead of using a notebook for a couple of months, and end up in trouble with the IRS. I don’t really ask for much, at the present time, I will not mind manually entering sales, my cost, and the difference (profit). As long as it will print out the necessary forms every quarter so I keep my tax stuff correct with the IRS. It would be nice if it connected with the Shopify balance account, and maybe paypal, just depending on how the customer choose to pay. It would be nice if it would automatically pull in sales figures daily, but like I said, I have time I can type those in.

But I don’t want to get something so stripped down that it is useless for tax filing purposes. I know I’ll need to get an accountant, but again if the software will print out the necessary documents, to give the accountant, that won’t be so bad. So what do you use? What do you like about it, or not like about it?

So no one knows anything about financial software.

My experience with free or cheap software is you’d better know what you are doing or you may not get good results. Some that I’ve seen are confusing at best and do not give good reports, including some from Intuit. The days of buying a package and having it for a long time are gone I think. I don’t like this new environment where you are basically renting the software and can’t easily save the data or export it to another package. Some, like QBO, make it difficult or impossible to migrate the data to another system. QBO is relatively easy to use but you are stuck with monthly payments for the life of the business.
You might look at Zoho. I looked at it several years ago and didn’t like it but it may have changed a lot since then.
