Looking for advice for migrating existing custom site to Shopify

We currently run a custom made ecommerce website which is tightly linked to our warehousing software (also custom).

We are in the hair & beauty wholesale industry and our current website satisfies the following requirements:

  • Customers can log into the ecommerce site using their customer details that already exist on our warehousing platform.

  • They can choose a local delivery option based on their chosen weekly delivery day, delivery by courier or to collect their order in one of our 5 warehouse locations

  • Local delivery and courier options have variable pricing depending on total cost of order

  • They have a dashboard where they can pay for outstanding invoices

  • Orders placed on the website are submitted to our backend system for warehouse staff to process, pick and dispatch the order.

I am the sole developer here and it is becoming increasingly difficult to extend and maintain this website. We are currently having issues with our 3dsecure implementation (with a 3rd party api) and instead of wasting more time trying get things fixed I’m now considering if the better long term solution is to build on a well documented, battle tested and fit for purpose platform like Shopify.

I would like to know if I create a Shopify store will I be able to integrate these custom functions using webhooks etc or would I need to build completely from scratch using the Hydrogen / Oxygen platform I’ve read about in the developer docs.

I am looking for a solution that I can get up and running and migrate over to quickly and then build out from going forward.

Please let me know if I have posted this in the wrong forum and if my question would be best served if posted elsewhere.

Thanks in advance,

Rob
