Hi everyone,

I’m doing some early research and wanted to get honest input from merchants here.

Over the past month or so, I’ve been trying to talk with small Shopify store owners who’ve mentioned that getting more qualified traffic without relying on ads or constant content churn is a big problem for them*.* A few people mentioned that they had partnered with complementary brands (ex: a jewelry shop partnering with a handbag brand), but that it’s usually manual, inconsistent, or hard to maintain.

I’m exploring whether there’s interest in something much simpler:
a lightweight way for two complementary Shopify stores to recommend each other’s products and share high-intent traffic, so both sides get more visibility and aligned customers.

A couple questions I’d love your thoughts on:

  • Is this something you’d ever try with brands you trust or align with?

  • What would make a partnership like this feel beneficial rather than risky?

  • Are there specific moments in your customer journey where recommending another brand feels natural—or totally off limits?

  • What would be a dealbreaker for you?

Not trying to pitch anything here—just trying to understand whether this is actually useful or if there are concerns I’m not accounting for.

Would genuinely appreciate any feedback or experiences you’re open to sharing. Thanks! :folded_hands:

Hi @aidan-ricci

Partnerships of this nature can be successful if the two brands have a relatable audience and a similar value proposition. The main benefits are that you get high intent traffic, and cross-promotions with out running ads all the time. It’s natural on product pages, post-purchase emails, or in bundles. Turnoffs consist of misaligned brands, competing prices or trust issues among customers.
