Media failed to process because the image could not be downloaded.

Hello,

I am facing a product listing issue. I am receiving an error on Shopify product page that says:

Media upload failed

Some of your media failed to upload, please retry again.

  • Image: Media failed to process because the image could not be downloaded

My Shopify store is linked with the Channel Advisor and the information is imported from the ChannelAdvisor only. Channel Advisor is generating 2 different errors for image uploading in Shopify.

“Error from Shopify: The Shopify API was unable to update media for the product grouping on Shopify. This is typically due to media file sizes that are too large, too many media items in the product grouping, or inaccessible media at an indicated media url. Please contact ChannelAdvisor support for assistance.”

I’ve dealt with this issue before. The problem was often due to large image sizes (over 20MB) or broken image URLs. Reducing the file size and ensuring the URLs are correct helped me.

If that doesn’t solve it, I recommend reaching out to ChannelAdvisor support—they were helpful in my case.

In once case, resizing the images to under 20MB and making sure the image URLs were correct fixed the problem. You might want to check that as well.
