i want to have a dropdown menu of photos instead of links, like this!

any ideas how to do it?

is there an app that can give me the same or effect? or i have to edit code?

If there are collections, you can open a collection from the backend, there you will find an option to add image which will show as background image.

Other than that if you specific requirements you will need a code and a lot of editing actually.
