Last time I had a really tricky issue, you guys were able to solve it within minutes; so here I am again!
I have an online clothing boutique where customers frequently order multiple times a day. Which then requires our team to go in and manually combine the orders for shipping, as well as refund a shipping charge.
If they are not above the free shipping threshold for their location, we will happily remove the shipping charge on one of the orders. Depending on their first order, they might get all their shipping back. It sounds a bit confusing but if someone orders something and hasn’t reached the shipping threshold, they pay a shipping fee. The orders added on after that, will get the fee waived but we still keep the shipping for the original order as it does take some time and effort for us to get this all arranged. That being said, if their first order is big enough that it gets them over the threshold, we will still refund the shipping charges from the additional orders.
The problem with this is that it is taking a ton of time to either refund the charge or charges. Not to mention having to find the orders to see if one has already been packaged up to send out.
Here is what we are looking for: We want to make a Shopify Flow of some sort that triggers when someone orders, it then checks to see if that customer has an order that are “unfulfilled”, it combines the orders if there are any to merge with, it then removes the shipping charge from the current order.
Currently, we are telling select customers to use the code ADDME and it deducts the shipping charge before they even checkout. The problem with this is that we are having customers find this code online and abusing it in an effort to get free shipping without reaching the threshold. We then made it so we had to manually add each persons email but you can imagine that’s a huge pain.
In the end, we are left with orders automatically being combined and shipping being automatically discounted if there is an order still in the “unfulfilled” status.
Yeah you can look up unfulfilled orders from the same customer, cancel them and then add those line items to the order in question. And you should also be able to update the shipping line to remove that cost:
Hey! Thank you so much for the reply. Would you be able to show me what that might look like in flows? It’s tough trying to interpret some of the lingo and what order things have to be selected in. I appreciate your time.
No worries at all Kalen, I appreciate the hustle. I saw your rates on your website. Do you have a rough idea of what this might cost to do exactly what I said? - When customer orders again, check for unfulfilled orders, if there are any, automatically combine them and add an automated shipping discount for the additional order. The end result would be combined orders and only one shipping charge, or no shipping charge at all if their initial order got them above the shipping threshold.
