My company mainly sells specific electronic parts and components. Most customers looking on my site will be searching for very specific parts by part number. Example I sell a voltage regulator “MC7912CT” The basic part number is 7912 and this is how many customers might start. I need the base number “7912” to give results of parts matching that base number. Currently if a search is done for “7912” no result. If the search is MC7912" all options are displayed. I need the base number to get results. My question is do I create a TAG “7912”, or do I add “7912” to a meta field? See screen shots of search results. Thank you for any guidance on this question. This will apply to many part numbers on my site.
Hey @cfunni
Try adding “7912” in your product tag and then search again, it should show up the product and just incase if it still doesn’t shows up then there will be some changes required in your search file. It will require some custom code so if you’re not familiar with coding then I suggest you to hire a Shopify developer who can help you out with that! Feel free to let me know if you want me to help you out.

Thank you Moeed
Yes adding “7912” as a Tag does work, my question is this the best practice, or do I add the info in a META field?
Usually, the search picks up from product title but since it’s not working with the product title so I’m guessing the best practice is the Tag as it’s a good way for SEO optimization as well.
