FYI, you’re running into this issue because your store is using tags for collections and metafields for filters, and there’s no automatic link between the two. That’s why you’re stuck adding tags to metafields manually.
The easiest way to fix this is with automation.
If you have Shopify Flow, you can create a workflow that checks when a product is created or updated. If the product has a specific tag, Flow can automatically set the matching metafield. This works well if your tags follow a clear and consistent naming pattern.
